Right Separation in Eyelash Extensions – Tips for Lash Artists

🔥 RIGHT SEPARATION – WHAT IS IT? 🔥

For high-quality eyelash extensions, every lash artist should know the main rules of proper separation.

Some lash artists love this step, others hate it — but correct separation is one of the most important skills when working with professional eyelash extension products and lash supplies.

When I watch the work of my students during training courses, I usually see two types of lash artists:

• those who separate natural lashes easily and correctly
• and those who cannot understand how to do it properly.

Most problems appear when working with clients who have deep-set eyes or natural lashes that grow downward.

On my training courses “AngeLash Volume” (and online eyelash extensions courses) I always teach my students how to separate lashes correctly, with attention and understanding.

Because mistakes in separation can create many other problems in eyelash extensions, such as:

• stickies
• incorrect distance from the eyelid
• crossed direction
• empty inner or outer corners.

Important Rules of Lash Separation

Here are my main tips for correct separation when working with volume lashes and professional lash tools.

1️⃣ Separate Only One Natural Lash

I strongly recommend separating only one natural lash at a time.

Not two.
Not three.
Not four.

This is a very important rule for clean and professional eyelash extensions.

Always remind yourself about this during the procedure.

2️⃣ Use the Right Lash Tweezers

Personally, I prefer using curved lash tweezers for separation.

I use AngeLash Professional curved tweezers, and for me they are the perfect tool.

Curved tweezers help separate:

• straight lashes
• large lashes between baby lashes
• lashes that grow downward

If you have never tried working with curved tweezers, I highly recommend trying them.

After 20 minutes of work you will feel the difference.

High-quality lash tweezers and eyelash extension tools make separation much easier and more precise.

3️⃣ Separate Lashes Close to the Eyelid

Always separate the natural lash as close to the eyelid as possible.

Do not separate from the top of the lash or from the middle.

You should separate the lash exactly where the natural lash begins to grow.

This helps maintain correct distance and better retention in volume eyelash extensions.

4️⃣ Use Your Finger for Better Control

Sometimes I use my finger to help with separation.

This technique gives better control when working with lashes for eyelash extensions.

You can try this method as well.

5️⃣ Support Your Hand

When separating a lash, always rest your hand somewhere.

This allows you to keep the natural lash stable and prevents losing it when you switch your attention to creating the fan.

Good stability is extremely important when working with precision lash tools and eyelash extension supplies.

6️⃣ Open Your Tweezers Wide

When separating lashes with your tweezers, open them as wide as possible.

This will help you isolate the natural lash and attach your fan much easier.

Professional lash tweezers and lash supplies are designed to make this process easier for lash artists.

7️⃣ Working With Baby Lashes

Sometimes a baby lash prevents you from separating a larger lash.

In this case I recommend attaching a 0.05 lash extension to the baby lash first.

After a few minutes it becomes much easier to separate the larger neighboring lash.

8️⃣ Help Yourself With Lash Tape

If your client has deep-set eyes or natural lashes growing downward, you can use paper tape to slightly lift the eyelid.

This technique makes separation much easier.

But be careful — do not lift the eyelid too much, otherwise your client may look like a vampire after the procedure! 😂

Correct separation is the foundation of clean, professional eyelash extensions.

Working with high-quality lash supplies, professional tweezers and eyelash extension products also makes this process easier and more comfortable for lash artists.
